Membership eligibility for Phi Theta Kappa at Berkeley City College (Beta Gamma Nu) is based on the number of hours you have completed and your GPA; therefore, membership is a special honor afforded to outstanding students at Berkeley City College. All eligible students will be sent an email invitation to join the honor society each new semester. This invitation will be sent to your Peralta student email address. Members pay a one-time membership fee of $105 (local, regional, and international fees) for enrollment in the organization on the local, regional, and international levels. In order to be eligible, you must have completed at least 12 semester units in the Peralta District with at least 8 semester units at Berkeley City College and have a GPA of 3.50 or higher; you must maintain this GPA to remain a member.

PTK Advisor

Your Berkeley City College Phi Theta Kappa Advisor is Denise Jones. Ms. Jones is a Counselor on the 2nd floor in Room 257. If you are eligible to be a potential Phi Theta Kappa, you should have received an invitation email sent to your Peralta email address.

If you need a letter of recommendation for scholarships please check with Ms. Jones or your school counselor.

Honor Roll

To be eligible for this honor, you must have enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester units at Berkeley City College and achieved a semester grade point average of 3.25 or better. All courses must have been completed with letter grades (CR grades may not be used in the calculation of honor standing).

Your honor status GPA is computed on the basis of units attempted and completed District-wide, and your honor roll status is assigned to the college where you complete the majority of your units for a particular semester. Your honor status is placed on your transcript for each semester.

We also encourage our honor students to join our Beta Gamma Nu Chapter of our PTK (Phi Theta Kappa) Honor’s Society. This honor is also noted on your transcipt
