I am pleased to announce that accreditation for Berkeley City College has been reaffirmed. The Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, Western Association of Schools and Colleges, in its recent meeting determined that BCC has addressed concerns raised in an earlier review. During a November site visit, commissioners reviewed whether the college had resolved deficiencies noted during the Spring 2015 comprehensive review. And, in its January meeting, the commission determined that BCC meets those standards.
This is wonderful news for BCC! As president of BCC, I applaud the efforts of our faculty and staff who worked tirelessly to address the areas of concern raised by the commission. In its letter to me, the commission acknowledges BCC for “sharing the values and the work of accreditation to ensure educational quality and to support student success.”
